The original Anglepoise 1227 lamp was recently been recognised as being one of ten British Design Classics by the Royal Mail in recognition of its impact on our cultural heritage. If however you haven't seen this range of stamps, you're likely to recognise our now iconic table light design from the Pixar animations that precede each of their films. The seemingly simple image of a flexible light has amused and delighted many audiences and demonstrates perfectly the best feature of our design: it's ability to move.
The original Anglepoise desk lights were based on the workings of human limbs and incorporated three springs at the base to obtain maximum flexibility and perfect balance. This revolution in lighting allowed the user to directly manipulate the level of light according to the task at hand and it's for this reason that the original Anglepoise design has stood the test of time and why our desk lights are found in so many different environments across the world.
Since the original design, we have worked hard to create a range of lamps that can be adaptable in any space, creating the perfect illumination wherever they are placed. In order to maximise this lighting potential, our current range of lamps includes Giant versions of our original desk lights, which are three times the original size. Every one of our 1227 floor lights is handmade in England and is available in black, anthracite grey and vermillion.
We have also developed further ranges of wall lights, clamp lights and magnifier lights, so that no matter what the size of the space you want to light and for whatever purpose, there's an Anglepoise product to suit your needs.
